Kickstart Your Wind Energy Career

Gain crucial safety skills and knowledge, and earn a globally recognised GWO certification that opens doors to exciting wind energy opportunities.

The GWO Basic Safety Training is an intensive 4.5-day course delivered on-site at our specialist training facility. The course is a blend of theoretical content and practical tasks, with continuous observation and assessment throughout. You can expect:

  • Blended Learning: A combination of classroom-based group discussions and hands-on practical exercises.
  • Practical Simulations: Realistic emergency scenarios to prepare you for real-life situations.
  • Expert Instructors: Our experienced instructors will guide you through each training module, providing continuous feedback and support.

Certification and Assessment

Upon successful completion of the GWO Basic Safety Training, you will receive a GWO certificate for each of the five modules.

  • Assessment: Your knowledge and skills will be assessed through a combination of written tests and practical observation of your ability to perform the required tasks.
  • Certificate Validity: Your GWO certificate is valid for two years.
  • Revalidation: To maintain your certification, you will need to complete a GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) course before your certificate expires.

Entry Requirements and Target Audience

This course is for anyone looking to work in the wind energy sector. There are no formal prerequisites, but you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be medically fit and capable of participating fully. You will be required to complete a medical self-screening form before the course begins.
  • Register for a WINDA ID before you attend the course.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

All necessary PPE will be provided for the duration of the course, including:

  • Hard hat, gloves, and safety boots.
  • Harness, fall arrest lanyards, and other personal fall protection equipment (PFPE).
  • All equipment required for the practical simulations.
