Prerequisites: to attend the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) RESTRICTED course you require –

  • Be at least 18 years of Age
  • Hold a Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code A-VI/1-1)
  • Have completed at least 6 months approved seagoing service

Certificate validity: 5 years as per the STCW 2010 Manilla Amendments

Certification: Upon successful completion you will be awarded a certificate in STCW-95 Personal Survival Techniques as laid down in STCW 95 Regulation VI/1 paragraph 2.1.1 of Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code

Duration: 3 Days (0900hrs – 1700hrs)

What is the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than fast rescue boats (Restricted) course?

Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) Restricted – PSCRB(R)

The STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) Restricted was previously known as the Advanced Sea Survival for Yacht crew.

The PSCRB(R) course will provide the education and training to yacht personnel who are required to take charge of a survival craft in emergency situations. This course was intended for crew serving on vessels that are not equipped with davit launched lifeboats, resulting in the shorter course length and ‘restricted’ certification.

This course is specifically aimed at yacht and superyacht crew.

Course Content

  • Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch
  • Operate a survival craft engine
  • Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
  • Use locating devices including communications, signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics
  • Apply first aid to survivors.
