Day two: STCW 95 Personal Survival Techniques
Moving into the second day of our STCW 95 Basic Safety Training package it was time to embrace the elements and prepare for an action packed day of realistic sea survival training.
Our 10.5 acre swimming pool is a little different to most and is key to making sure the students get the most out of the training. The general alarm sounded and the group of apprehensive students gathered at the muster point with their life saving appliances to hand. As the temperature measured a toasty 7 degrees on the surface we donned immersion suits and life jackets in preparation to abandon ship. After a safety brief on the afternoons exercises and a demonstration on how to enter the water safely the group took the plunge. Much to everyone’s surprise they were remarkably warm given the temperature of the water. A fantastic effort by all the group who successfully completed all in water skills with ease.
